Nando’s Exeter supports the WESC Foundation with Princesshay

On Wednesday 13 March, an enthusiastic team from Nando’s Exeter were treated to a tour of the WESC Foundation campus and facilities and the chance to meet some of the inspirational students. Nando’s staff were keen to find out more about Princesshay’s official charity of 2013 and support with activity in their restaurant as well as giving time through volunteering.

The Nando’s Exeter team arrived laden with balloons and tons of energy, together with a selection of Peri-Peri sauces for the children and young people to use in their next cooking classes.

Laure Petit, Restaurant Manager of Nando’s in Princesshay said, “We had such a great time meeting some of the pupils and seeing the incredible facilities they have access to. We are committed to fundraising and pledging our support as part of the year long partnership with Princesshay this year and we already have lots of ideas!”

WESC Foundation is located on an impressive 15 acre site located off Topsham Road. The school is kitted out with specialist equipment suited for the diverse needs of the day, weekly and residential children and young people, all purchased with the aid of fundraising and kind donations.

The Nando’s team were given the unique opportunity to sit in on a music sensory class, with many of the students demonstrating a fantastic piece of equipment called The Soundbeam. This device converts physical movements into sound, allowing children of all abilities to create music and sound effects to accompany stories.

Nando’s of Princesshay is committed to supporting WESC Foundation throughout 2013, putting themselves forward to volunteer at various fundraising events and supporting the students on their visits to the restaurant.

Caroline Burkie, Fundraising and PR Manager for WESC Foundation said, “It was fantastic that the Nando’s team gave up their time to visit the school and meet some of the pupils. It really helps to see the reality of the challenges our students face on a day to day basis and positive impact that local fundraising has. We’re thrilled they’re going to support us this year.”

WESC Foundation strives to secure a bright future for children and young people who are visually impaired and have complex needs, the amazing team provides specialist education, care and therapy around the clock.
