Exeter College athletes celebrate success

More than 80 Exeter College athletes played their part in the South West being crowned the victors at the Association of Colleges Sport National Championships.

The students competed across a range of different sports representing the South West alongside a number of other colleges – with Exeter College student Vicky Prouse one of the team captains.

Nearly 1800 college students from across England, Wales and Scotland travelled to Tyne and Wear to take part in the three-day event, which is now in its 38th year. The college athletes competed across 15 different sports,...

Explore East Devon with Countryside's Education Rangers over half term

The Countryside team is offering a fun-filled programme of events for children and their families this half term - from splashing in the stream at Honiton Bottom, or digging for worms in Exmouth.

The events aim to inspire children and adults to get out and explore their natural environment through fun games and activities.

All of the events listed cost just £4 per child with a discount offered to East Devon District Council tenants. Places must be booked in advance.

Richard Ashton receives long service award at Devon County Show

Machinery and delivery driver Richard Ashton was presented with a 30-year agricultural service award at the Devon County Show.

The award – a certificate and commemorative glass tankard – was presented by Devon County Show President Lady Arran of Castle Hill and Noel Stevens from award sponsors Alder King.

Richard – who moved from West Sussex to start milking pedigree Jerseys on a dairy farm near Modbury in 1983 – has spent the past eight years driving chippers and delivery lorries across the South West for wood fuel specialist Forest Fuels, delivering blown and tipped wood...

Family fun at farm open day

Live music, great food and...piglet racing - just a few of the elements making up a Devon farm’s open day next weekend.

Kenniford Farm, which is just a few miles from Exeter at Clyst St Mary, is opening its gates to the public as part of Open Farm Sunday, which takes place on June 5.

As well as stalls, local beer, a bouncy castle and entertainment for all ages, there will be a chance to look behind the scenes at the farm, from the tiny newborn piglets to the fully-grown sows rolling in the sandy fields.

Exeter Cathedral has received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for the third year running.

The Cathedral, currently rated highest amongst the city’s attractions according to TripAdvisor reviews, adds the accolade to a “2016 top-rated” award from Travelzoo and its quality-assured attraction status from the Devon Association of Tourist Attractions.

Major crash causes Big Weekend traffic chaos

People heading to Radio 1's Big Weekend at Powderham Castle experienced long delays following a serious two-vehicle collision near Matford roundabout in Exeter.

Police, ambulance, and the Devon Air Ambulance were called at 11.30am today (Sunday) following the collision between a car and a motorcycle on the A379 at Sannerville Way.

The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital by the air ambulance.

Knockout returns to raise funds for FORCE

The most colourful event on the FORCE Cancer Charity fundraising calendar is returning for a second year.

It's A Knockout will be held at Topsham Rugby Club on Saturday September 3.

Up to 72 teams of 10 will be taking part in games based on the popular TV show, using colourful inflatables, crazy costumes, props, water and, of course, lots of bubbles!

Last year’s event raised £23,500 as businesses, clubs and groups of friends competed in the 12-game spectacular.
