Aliens have been spotted in the Castle grounds. Dr What and Agent Why (from the ministry of big secrets) attempt to make contact and find out more about these strange creatures!

This is a promenade style, interactive theatre taking you on a short walk around the grounds at the foot of the Castle.

The sessions take place at 12.30 and 2.30. Each child wishing to take part will be given a session ticket on arrival. Gather in the courtyard at your given time and wait for the fun to begin! Each session lasts about 50 minutes.

Craft event at the Devon Heritage Centre

Residents are invited to try out some of the old crafts their ancestors used to work in at a special event at the Devon Heritage Centre this month.

‘Creative Crafts: Past and Present’ will take place on Monday August 19 from 10am–4pm, and will include demonstrations of lacemaking, spinning, knitting, crochet and other crafts. There will also be the opportunity to have a go at some of these crafts, which were once cottage industries are now enjoyed as hobbies for pleasure, as well as explore displays and exhibitions about various old crafts and the people who worked in them....

Gorillas in the midst of Exeter's City Centre

Yesterday (Saturday 3 August) saw the arrival of a rather unusual breed of tourist to the streets, parks and open spaces of Exeter. Welcomed by young and old alike, 11 life-sized gorilla sculptures have taken up residence around the City of Exeter as part of the Great Gorillas Project - an art trail created to help celebrate Paignton Zoo's 90th Birthday as well as raise funds and awareness for the Zoo's vital conservation work spanning the globe.

Newtown History Cafe

The history of Newtown will be revealed at the cafe in Belmont Park on Sunday 11 August. An exhibition, entitled ‘Newtown through the Ages’ will show how the area has developed over the centuries from the Roman period to present day. Newtown certainly has a lot more history than what might be expected.

The cafe is open from 2pm-4pm and is followed by a historical guided walk of the local area starting at 4.15pm at the hut in Belmont Park.

Exeter cancer charity calls for more runners

Organisers of the fourth Force/Francis Clark 10k Race at Powderham Castle have called for more runners to sign up for the annual event in a bid to break previous entry records and boost fundraising.

The event has grown considerably since the first race in 2010 and now features a 5k run and a 2k family run as well as 5k & 10k mountain bike rides around one of the most picturesque routes any runner or rider could wish for, taking in the Castle, the Exe Estuary, extensive woodland and the deer park.

Ashfords LLP has signed sponsorship deals with four Exeter Chiefs players as the side gears up for another exciting campaign.
