Creating video is the key theme for the March meeting of the Teignmouth and Dawlish Social Media Cafe.

The social media cafe is being held on Monday 23 March at The Langstone Cliff Hotel from 5-7.30pm.

Arts and community folk from across South Devon are being invited to come along to the Pavilions Teignmouth Open House event on Saturday 28 March. The free event is being held at The Riviera Bar Cafe, Teignmouth from 1-3.30pm.

Work started on Pavilions Teignmouth last month. The multi-million pound community, arts and development centre, being built by Teignbridge Council, is due to open in Spring 2016. The centre will be run by a charitable trust.

Fresh measures are being taken by Teignbridge District Council to dissuade pigeons from nesting underneath Teignmouth’s iconic Pier.

Teignbridge District Council, with the support of the owners of Teignmouth Pier, is trialling a bird scarer to deter birds from roosting under the structure where their droppings fall into the sea or the sands below and ultimately end up affecting bathing water quality.

As 2014 nears to a close, it marks a fresh start in the exciting project to create a brand new landmark building in Teignmouth.

Demolition of the former Carlton Theatre is complete and the site is ready for construction of the new building which will house arts, business and enterprise.

The new building will be known as Pavilions Teignmouth.

Pavilions Teignmouth was selected from a long list of proposals by its new board of trustees who have been appointed to guide the vision for the centre and shape its future on behalf of everyone who will use it.

Even cleaner seas for Teignmouth

A £659,000 project to deliver even cleaner seas off Teignmouth gets under way today.

South West Water will be constructing a 500 cubic metre underground storage tank in Teignmouth station car park.

This additional storm water storage capacity will reduce the number of discharges from the sewerage network during extremely wet weather. The project is designed to improve bathing water quality at Teignmouth ahead of the European Union's revised Bathing Water Directive, which comes into effect in 2015.

Big beach recycling scheme gets started in Teignmouth

A big beach recycling scheme to help protect Teignmouth seafront from future storm damage gets underway today.

Specialist diggers and bulldozers will move 10,000 tonnes of sand from the estuary side of The Point Spit to the sands in the front of The Point car park.

Beaches act as giant sponges soaking up wave energy and this reshaping of the beach will give it a protective healthy layer in readiness for any future winter storms like those that hit the South Devon coastline in February.

The Teignmouth and Dawlish Social Media Cafe is one year old this October.

Over the past year it has helped over 50 local businesses and community organisations with help and advice in using social media to promote themselves.

Work begins on Teignmouth's new theatre

Demolition work is due to start on the Carlton site, Teignmouth, on Monday 29 September.

Teignbridge District Council has appointed Weaver Demolition Ltd to carry out the construction work which will see a new landmark building replacing the current theatre. The work signals the end of an era but the dawn of an exciting new beginning for the town and the district.
