The Teignmouth and Dawlish Social Media Cafe is one year old this October.

Over the past year it has helped over 50 local businesses and community organisations with help and advice in using social media to promote themselves.

The birthday cafe will be held at the Langstone Cliff Hotel in Dawlish on Tuesday 7 October and experts will be on hand to provide advice on which social media to use and how to set up accounts.

The social media cafe runs from 5pm to 7.30pm and provides a free drop-in event where people can pick up tips and hints on using social media, ask questions and meet other like-minded people over a cup of coffee or a beer. The event is open to any business or organisation from Teignmouth, Shaldon, Dawlish and Dawlish Warren.

There will be a number of experts to give advice. Curtis Goss from Pano360 will be talking about why every business should claim their Google listing.

Angela Rimmer from Angela Consulting will be explaining how LinkedIn is essential for professionals such as lawyers, accountants and architects and Mandy Pearse from Seashell Communications will be tackling Twitter and Facebook.

The Social Media Cafe was set up by Mandy Pearse, Director of Teignmouth-based Seashell Communications and is supported by the Teignmouth and Dawlish Community Interest Company.
Mandy said: “I can’t believe the cafe is a year old. We have such fun at events and always learn something new so the year has just flown by. I’m really grateful to the Langstone Cliff Hotel for hosting the next cafe and to Curtis and Angela for their time.”

The Teignmouth and Dawlish Social Media Cafe is held monthly alternating between the towns. A facebook page called Teignmouth & Dawlish Social Media Cafe www.facebook.com/TandDSMcafe keeps people up to date with events and provides a forum for questions.
