Taylor Wimpey Exeter raises over £5k for Hospiscare 

Colleagues from Taylor Wimpey Exeter have raised £5,316.42 for Hospiscare, an independent charity providing specialist care to patients and their families living with life-limiting illnesses across Exeter, central and east Devon.

The funds were raised as part of Taylor Wimpey’s annual challenge, where a team of 15 from the housebuilder’s Exeter office completed a hike along the north Devon coastline, followed by a series of competitive, creative and strategic tasks.

Rob Baker, Managing Director for Taylor Wimpey Exeter, said: “The Taylor Wimpey Challenge is always a fantastic event. Not only does it bring together employees from across the business, but most importantly we raised a huge sum of money for Hospsicare, a deserving charity who provide incredibly compassionate care at a time when families need it the most.”

Hospiscare has been supporting people in Devon living with life-limiting illnesses for over 40 years. Over time it has expanded to cover over 1,000 miles of the county, offering support to anyone with any type of terminal illness via at-home support, a specialist palliative care ward, outpatients clinics, supportive therapies and much more. 

Ellie Melmoth, Partnership Manager at Hospiscare, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Taylor Wimpey Exeter for its amazing fundraising efforts and monetary donation. We rely heavily on the generous support of businesses, local people and communities as we support around 2,200 people each year, in some of the hardest times possible. With just 20% of our funding coming from the NHS, we need to raise around £10 million a year to continue to provide our care. Thank you again to the team for thinking of us!
