Sportswear retailer expands with new store coming to High Street
INDEPENDENT sportswear retailer Sport & Style is expanding into Exeter with a new High Street store, creating around six jobs and bringing major sports brands to the city at discounted prices.
The retailer already operates successful stores in Bournemouth, Poole and Salisbury and is set to open at 206 High Street, the former Millets and GO Outdoors premises, in mid‑October.
The new 4,236 sq ft store will span two floors of the prominent Grade II listed building and will offer branded sportswear, footwear and accessories at up to 70% off RRP. Stock will include leading names such as Puma, Under Armour and ASICS.
Owner George Cole said Exeter was a natural choice for the company’s latest expansion, thanks to the city’s strong sporting culture and large student population.
He said: “We’re looking forward to becoming a welcome addition to Exeter’s High Street and contributing to the local economy. Exeter is a big student city and we know people are looking for value, which is exactly what we offer.”

Sport & Style’s expansion into Exeter follows the success of its existing South West stores.
Cole added: “Our Bournemouth, Poole and Salisbury stores continue to perform strongly, and Exeter is an exciting next step for us. We’re confident the new store will quickly become a destination for local shoppers.”
Around six people will be employed directly at the Exeter store, with additional roles supported through deliveries and other operational needs.
“We’re proud to be creating jobs for local people and becoming part of the High Street community,” Cole said. “We want the store to be somewhere customers enjoy visiting and know they’ll find great brands at great prices.”
The new Sport & Style store is expected to open mid‑October.
