Work to prevent access and stop anti-social behaviour taking place under the railway arches in St Thomas is to go ahead.

Exeter City Council has approved £50,000 funding for the arches to be properly fenced off.

St Thomas residents responded with shock, disappointment and anger after recently planted fruit trees in Cowick Barton Playing Fields were destroyed over night. Many residents were very upset by the senselessness of the actions.

The majority of the new trees we broken and some dragged in to roads neighbouring the fields; one was even left pushed through the railings in the gate.

Police are appealing for information after a man exposed himself in the St Thomas area of Exeter.

A woman called police at 3am on Sunday 12 June to report a sighting a man who was walking barefoot and naked from the waist down. He was wearing a hooded top and is described as white, of medium to stocky build and in his late thirties to early forties.

The incident happened near St Thomas the Apostle’s Church. Officers from the neighbourhood policing team conducted an area search but were not able to locate the man.

Police in Exeter are investigating an assault and robbery that took place in the St Thomas area of the city on Monday night, 9th May 2016.

At around 7pm two men, aged 17 and 18, were approached by three strangers in Merrivale Park.

The three suspects, all described as wearing black or grey hoodies which were up and face masks or balaclavas, attacked the two men.

The 17 year-old suffered a slight facial injury while the 18 year-old was repeatedly hit over the head.

Dates and details have been set to test the emergency flood plan in place for St Thomas in Exeter.

The first test, a tabletop exercise, will take place at Danes Castle Fire Station on 12 April, between 7pm and 9.30pm. Cartridges Law are sponsoring Bowhill Running Club which was set up in April 2015 to provide a running group that would help get parents active, this was supported by Exeter City Football Club and Active Devon.

An Exeter community group is looking for volunteers to help protect local people from flooding. St Thomas Community Emergency Group aims to have a flood warden in every street to help warn and support vulnerable residents in the event of a flood.

The group is currently working on a community emergency plan with the Environment Agency. It is also helping businesses in St Thomas and Marsh Barton prepare for floods. Currently only a handful people have come forward as volunteers, but the group needs more.
