What an informative and moving morning had by all at Cranbrook Education Campus.

The Exeter Dementia Action Alliance (EDAA) spent the morning at Cranbrook raising dementia awareness and inspiring action.

Sara and Barrie Carless who are living with dementia accompanied Gina Awad, Lead of the alliance as they delivered Dementia Friends sessions reaching 75 8-11 year olds. This was followed by an assembly presentation by Gina to the secondary students illustrating the work of the alliance and future visits to Cranbrook.

Work is now under way to construct a cutting-edge new imaging centre expected to rapidly accelerate dementia research and improve healthcare.

The new Mireille Gillings Neuroimaging Centre will form part of the University of Exeter Medical School clinical research infrastructure. MP backs new ACE Tiverton special school as it welcomes first students

Local MP Neil Parish has backed ACE Tiverton to provide high-quality education to young people in Devon with special educational needs.

The special school, which opened its doors on Monday, will cater for 70 young people aged 11 to 16 years old who have identified needs relating to Autism, Communication Social, Emotional and Mental Health. The new staff have been busily preparing their classrooms in the newly refurbished building, ready for the first day of school. The building used to be a care home and has been converted by Devon County Council in a £4.5 million project.

Google visits school in Exeter to boost kids' online safety

In 2017, Google conducted research with more than 200 teachers to learn about their experience with online safety in the classroom. We found that teachers believe children should start learning about online safety as early as the age of seven and that 99% felt that this should be a part of the curriculum. Local schoolchildren recently teamed up with coastal conservationists to help tackle the theory and the reality of waste plastic in Torbay.

Pupils from Roselands Primary in Paignton learned about marine pollution with education staff from Living Coasts, Torquay’s coastal zoo and aquarium, then helped clean Goodrington beach with the Torbay Cleaner Coasts Initiative and staff from Torbay Council.
