‘Awful’ runners take on 120-mile challenge

Two “awful” runners are taking on a 120-mile run to raise money for charity.

Friends Mike Sheppard and Gaz Burroughes, neither of whom have run more than a half marathon before, are raising money for men’s health charity The Movember Foundation in memory of Gaz’s dad, who died of prostate cancer in December.

They admit their bid to run around Hungary’s Lake Balaton in four days is ambitious – possibly foolish – for novice runners.

Radio Exe will be joining Children’s Hospice South West’s Westpoint Rainbow Run this year. This great family event takes place on Saturday 10th June at its brand new location at the fabulous Westpoint Arena. Deaf students show true grit for Escot Mud Run

A deaf student care worker from Exeter Deaf Academy has challenged deaf students to test their grit determination and physical endurance by training them for the Escot Mud Run at Escot Park near Honiton, on Saturday 25 March.

Escot’s new obstacle challenge event is organised by South West Military Fitness.

Entries are now open for the Michelmores Charity 5k Run, which will take place on 8 September 2016 at 6.30pm.

This year the Exeter law firm is aiming to attract a record 1,200 runners, encouraging local people and businesses to get together to celebrate the city of Exeter and to fundraise for Michelmores' local Charity of the Year, Balloons, who support bereaved children and their families in Exeter and beyond.

Women's Running 10k comes to Exeter

On Sunday (26 June) Women’s Running magazine, Solgar Vitamins and its Women’s Running 10K race will be arriving in Exeter for the first time, promising a fun, friendly and supportive atmosphere at the picturesque Riverside Valley Park.

What an amazing Exeter Rainbow Run! With 1700 runners, steel drummers, Storm Troopers, Heart FM and bouncy castles, this year’s Children’s Hospice South West’s Rainbow Run was the best yet! As part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations for the charity, the run started with silver streamers and the record number of participants enjoyed a madcap, mayhem of riotous colour as they ran through the paint stations along the course.
