As these dramatic photos show, the Ottery tar barrels event last night proved to be another flaming success.

Those who have visited Ottery St Mary on 5th November, still find it difficult to understand what motivates the townspeople into carrying flaming tar barrels through the streets. However, it is a much-loved tradition that is hundreds of years old and attracts thousands every year.

Have you entered the Santa Dash yet? Why not pop into Exeter City FC's reception and sign up for the club’s charity Santa Dash on Saturday 29th December in Exeter City centre.

For just £17 for an adult and £5 per child, you will receive your Santa Suit and your match ticket for the Barnet game which kicks off at 3pm on that Saturday afternoon. Last year saw 310 people run through the high street before watching City draw 0-0 with Scunthorpe here at St James Park and the club are hopeful of beating that total this time around. There is no rest for Santa even when Christmas has gone, as Exeter City FC are calling on all those Santas who want to get a little post-feast exercise to join in with the club's Charity Santa Dash on 29 December.
