InStep Devon appeal for local leaders

Local running network InStep Devon has ambitions to get more people jogging and running in Exeter, East Devon and Mid Devon – and is looking for local leaders to help.

County Sports Partnership Active Devon has appointed InStep to coordinate the Beginner Runner Programme across the area. This is the latest phase of a Run England initiative whichwhich aims to get more people actively participating in the sport.

The Exeter Santa Run 2013

On Sunday morning 8 December 2013, the Quay area of Exeter will be treated to the sight of hundreds of Santas running alongside the River Exe.

Ironbridge Runner Events are once again organising the events in support of the local charity Dream-A-Way which provides holidays for disabled people of all ages in the South West.

First there will be a competitive 5k race along the river and flood relief channel starting and finishing on Piazza Terracina.

This will be followed by a shorter fun run suitable for all the family.

Every runner will be wearing a Santa suit...

Have you got what it takes - to take on the world famous Royal Marines endurance training course - in the name of charity? 6 and 7 September will see the 24th annual running of this historic event in the heart of Devon.

The Commandant of the nearby Marine training centre has given permission for civilians to attempt the very same training course that the Royal Marines use each and every day.

Anyone over the age of 16 can enter and will need grit and determination but most of all a great sense of humour to test their fitness on the 4k Fun or 10k Marine or the ultimate 17k...

Local charity Exeter YMCA is issuing the challenge, to those with a daring heart, to run the Great West Run on behalf of Exeter YMCA wearing an imaginative costume. The runner with the most impressive costume will receive two day passes at the Exeter Golf and Country Club as a prize.
