Last chance to enter Race for Life in Exeter

Women in Exeter are being urged to grab their last chance to enter Cancer Research UK's Race for Life as registration closes at midnight tonight. Over 3,200 determined women have already joined the formidable army who are ready to take on cancer on Sunday 30 June but there are still places left to fill.

Cancer Research UK's Race for Life, in partnership with Tesco, is an inspiring women-only series of events which raises millions of pounds every year to help defeat cancer by funding life-saving research. Sam Beare, Event Manager for Race for Life in the South West, said: "We are absolutely thrilled that so many women have entered Race for Life in Exeter. But we still have places left.

"So if you haven't already signed up, now's the time. If you're thinking you don't have time to train... cancer doesn't care, and neither do we. It's not about who's fittest or fastest. It's about beating cancer. So join the fight and sign up to Race for Life today."

In 2012, 3,451 women took part in Race for Life in Exeter and helped raise an incredible £158,000 for Cancer Research UK's life-saving work. This year, the charity hopes 3,600 women will enter Race for Life in Exeter to hit a fundraising target of £165,000.

Women of all shapes, sizes, ages and levels of fitness take part in Race for Life. They come from different backgrounds and walks of life but they are united by their absolute determination to take on the disease and beat it.

By raising money through Race for Life, people in the town are helping Cancer Research UK's doctors, nurses and scientists make advances in research which will help more men, women and children survive. Cancer Research UK receives no government funding for its ground-breaking research but with help from the people of Devon, the charity intends to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.

Sam concluded: "It doesn't matter if you walk, jog or even dance your way around the course. As long as you're on our side, raising money and fighting all the way. There are over 200 cancers and we won't give up until we find cures for them all. It's fighting talk, and we mean every word we say. Cancer, Exeter is coming to get you!"
