In recruitment, a lot of the B2B side of marketing (rather than marketing to potential job candidates) is done over the phone. While social media networks like LinkedIn and Twitter can sometimes give you an ‘in’ to talk to somebody who may be interested in working with you to fill a vacancy they have, most often these can only provide a name or a basic introduction, and you'll need to get on the phone to try and actually start building a relationship that can lead to a company choosing you for recruitment.

SW recruiter awarded place on NHS supplier framework

Leading South West recruitment and training agency Acorn, has been awarded a place as a Crown Commercial Service (CCS) supplier on the non-medical, non-clinical, temporary staffing framework for the National Health Service (NHS).

NHS Trust continues recruitment drive

THE Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust is to continue its recruitment drive by holding an open day in Okehampton later this month.

Traditional hiring methods still favoured

Gregory Distribution Limited (GDL) joined in celebrating National Apprenticeship Week by employing a young female engineering apprentice who visited the company’s truck stand at the Apprenticeship Expo event, held at Exeter College’s Technology Centre last Friday.

18 year-old, Lauren Broom will join GDL’s Cullompton Workshop on a Level 2 Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Apprenticeship. She was one of over 50 young people to visit the Chiefs’ liveried truck which was staffed by GDL HR personnel as current and former apprentices.

Local charity, Exeter Citizens Advice Bureau, is appealing for volunteers.

The charity, which is based in Dix’s Field, is recruiting new information guides, gateway assessors and advisers.

Information guides meet clients and visitors upon arrival at the bureau and assist with self-help resources. Gateway assessors help clients to identify issues and help with the next steps. Advisers provide clients with generalist advice in both face-to-face and telephone interviews.
