NHS Trust continues recruitment drive

THE Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust is to continue its recruitment drive by holding an open day in Okehampton later this month.

The Trust has already held five successful open days this year, in Barnstaple, Tiverton, Axminster, Seaton and Sidmouth.

It is holding a further event at Okehampton Hospital on Saturday 27 June (10am to 3pm).

The Okehampton event is for nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other health professionals interested in working at community hospitals or in the Trust’s community teams, which support patients in their own homes.

The event will also highlight opportunities to work in acute care at North Devon District Hospital (NDDH).

People attending either open day can meet clinical, recruitment and workforce development staff and have a tour of the hospital.

Darryn Allcorn, director of workforce and development, said: “Our open days have proved to be an excellent way to recruit new staff and we’ve been delighted with both the number and calibre of candidates who have shown an interest in working for the Trust.

“This event, like the others, will offer a great chance for candidates and ourselves to learn more about each other.

“Our staff will be able to tell you what it’s like to work for the Trust, how you can fast-track your application and about the many training and development opportunities we offer.”

Regarding nurses, Mr Allcorn said: “We have some great opportunities for experienced nurses seeking a new challenge, those looking to return to practice and students due to qualify from university in the near future.

“Nurses who attend either event can also find out about our innovative rotational posts, working across acute and community settings, and have an opportunity for an interview on the day.”

The Trust is planning two further open days at NDDH and Tiverton and District Hospital in the autumn.

Mr Allcorn added: “We are almost unique in our make-up as we provide a mixture of acute, community and specialist services across 1,300 square miles, so we can offer a wide range of exciting opportunities for nurses and other staff in a number of locations.”
