Exeter’s ‘Unmumsy Mum’ supports charity Mother’s Day competition

Exeter-based Rainbow Living is inviting local children and disabled adults to celebrate Mother’s Day by getting involved in a special competition to show their mum how much they love them.

All entrants need to do is design a Mother’s Day card to be in with a chance of winning an amazing Mother’s Day hamper, kindly donated by Sainsbury’s Pinhoe.

The charity is delighted to announce the support of Sarah Turner (aka the ‘Unmumsy Mum’ Exeter blogger!) as a guest judge. Sarah is an award-winning blogger and her first book - The Unmumsy Mum - has just been published.

The Exeter’s Becky Penrose is celebrating after winning an internal fundraising competition to raise money for the company’s Charity of the Year, Rainbow Living.

The Exeter, a local specialist provider of healthcare and protection insurance, invited their employees to undertake individual fundraising activities to be in with a chance of winning the ‘Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow’ competition, just one of many fundraising events staff took on for Rainbow Living during 2015.

Teign Valley Golf Club raise over £2,300 for local chariTEE

Local charity Rainbow Living are thrilled to have been presented with a cheque for £2,375 from Teign Valley Golf Club, following a year of fundraising as one of the club’s charities for the year 2015.

This amazing amount was raised from a series of fundraising events organised by Teign Valley Golf Club throughout the year, including charity golf days, raffles and a silent auction. Ted Ridgeway, Derek Hathaway and Maggie Thompson from Teign Valley Golf Club were delighted to present the cheque to Ruth Airdrie from Rainbow Living.

Show your support for #GivingTuesday

With just four days to go until #GivingTuesday 2015, Exeter charity Rainbow Living is calling for local people to show their support for this global day of giving.

Taking place on December 1, #GivingTuesday follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday - two of the UK’s biggest shopping days. The campaign is supported by a wide range of celebrities and sports stars, including Miranda Hart, Casey Batchelor, Olympic gold medallist Hannah Cockcroft, Peter Andre, Downton Abbey’s Joanna Froggatt, former Dr Who David Tennant, and historian and presenter Dan Snow.

Rainbow Living has joined more than 1,000 UK charities and businesses as an official partner of #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving at the start of the festive season.

The day, led in the UK by the Charities Aid Foundation, takes place on December 1 and follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday - two of the UK’s biggest shopping days. It is an opportunity for charities, families, businesses, community centres and students to come together to do something good for a cause they care about.

Cycling trio raise £1,408 for Exeter charity

Three local men have completed the challenge of a lifetime by cycling the length of the country to raise funds for Exeter charity Rainbow Living’s third Rainbow house.

Over 13 days, Duncan, Will and Jools spent an average of eight hours a day in the saddle cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End. The trio braved torrential rain, lashing winds, and mile after mile of vertical ascent followed by steep slippery descents. Herds of cows, flocks of sheep, punctures, saddle sores and overall tiredness may have slowed them down, but they were not deterred during their 1,000 mile journey...

Exeter Family Friendly raise £2.5k

A team of executives from Exeter Family Friendly raised £2675 for Devon-based charity Rainbow Living after cycling 72 miles from Wellington to Salcombe.

Starting at 8:30am, Exeter Family’s Andy Chapman (CEO), Simon Philp, Paul Austin, Alan Ord and Adrian Hodgkinson crossed the finish line at 16:30pm, to raise money for the protection provider’s charity of the year.

Rainbow Living provide housing for adults with learning disabilities so they can live with their peers in supported accommodation and the funds raised from the cycle will go towards the charity’s third house....

Rainbow Living launches support for Learning Disability Week 2015

Exeter-based charity Rainbow Living are proud to be supporting Learning Disability Week 2015, taking place 15-21 June, and are encouraging people in Devon to ‘Hear My Voice’ as some of the people the charity supports share their stories to help raise awareness of learning disability.

On Thursday 11th June, a team of executives from Exeter Family Friendly will launch the start of awareness about LDW by cycling 72 miles for Rainbow Living, stopping on route at Exeter Family’s offices to launch the week with Rainbow Living and the Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Lesley Robson.
