Neil Parish MP has popped on a pullover and posed for a festive photograph to support for Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day campaign.

In its third year, and the biggest yet, Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day is bringing together supporters and campaigners to be part of its woolly revolution to 'make the world better with a sweater’.

Neil Parish MP said: "I'm delighted to support Save the Children to help raise funds for its vital work in the UK and around the world, and what better way to do this than to get into the festive spirit and take part in their...

It sets out a series of recommendations that the group hopes the main political parties will consider and accept as...

Neil Parish MP, Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Animal Welfare, has given his backing to a report that sheds light on the murky multi-million pound trade in wild animals and their parts that is booming across online marketplaces, with questions being asked as to the legality of many advertisements offering endangered species for sale.

The shocking report released last week by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) shows how thousands of endangered species are bought and sold on the Internet, many advertised without any form of supporting documentation...

Worrying delays in land searches

I have been receiving lots of complaints from individual constituents, businesses and local estate agents in recent months about the amount of time it’s taking to do land searches in Exeter.

There seems to have been a problem in Exeter City Council’s land search service. Earlier in this summer I was assured this was being addressed, but the latest figures are showing a rise rather than a fall in the back-log. This is very worrying and should be an absolute priority for the council to address.

I completely understand that all local authorities are under serious financial...

Conservative hopeful's challenge

The Conservative party’s Prospective MP for Exeter Dom Morris has today challenged Labour to “do the right thing” and back English votes for English laws in Parliament. Dom supports the proposals by Prime Minister David Cameron to ensure that legislation at Westminster which affects England, is only voted on by English MPs. But Labour Leader Ed Miliband has refused to back the proposals.

Dom said: “I am challenging Ed Milliband’s current MP for Exeter Ben Bradshaw to do the right thing and come out in favour of English votes for English laws. “It is basic democracy that MPs should...

On Friday 7 February, the Rt Hon Hugo Swire MP visited the WESC Foundation in Exeter to say a special thank you to one of the learners at the Specialist Centre for Visual Impairment. The challenge was presented to the learners just prior to the Christmas period to come up with a suitable card design, and so Hugo was charged with the difficult decision of choosing a winner. Jacob was thrilled and proud to learn that his...

MP backs ivory crush ahead of London summit on illegal wildlife trade

Neil Parish, MP for Tiverton and Honiton, joined the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) on Monday 10 February as the charity crushed hundreds of items of unwanted ivory to help protect elephants from the deadly ivory trade.

IFAW destroyed around 100kgs of ivory items ranging from whole elephant tusks to carvings and jewellery in spectacular fashion in London to raise awareness of the ivory trade and show support for elephant protection ahead of a major international summit on the issue.

Alarmingly, an elephant is killed every 15 minutes for its ivory. It is...
