Michelmores strengthens powerful agricultural team

Michelmores LLP has announced three appointments which further strengthen its nationally recognised agricultural litigation team.

Solicitor Rachel O’Connor joins Michelmores from TLT’s Bristol Office, while Victoria Howlett was previously a solicitor at Burges Salmon. They are joined in Michelmores' Bristol office by barrister, Adam Corbin. Adam was called to the Bar in 2011, then deferred his pupillage at Iscoed Chambers in Swansea for a year to work in the Legal Team for the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Record entry announced for charity swim

Organisers of the 8th Topsham-Turf swim are celebrating the annual event’s biggest number of participants, who are estimated to have raised over £8,000 so far with more sponsorship to be added over the coming weeks for a local charity.

The event, which has been staged by the Estuary League of Friends since 2005 and is now supported by Michelmores Solicitors, witnessed 133 swimmers start the mile long swim on Saturday 17 August at Topsham Ferryman’s Slipway on their way to the Turf Hotel.

Three newly qualified solicitors are looking forward to a long and rewarding career with the award-winning legal firm Michelmores.

Michelle Perring, Andrew White and Rachael Lloyd, were all trained at Michelmores and will work at the firm’s Exeter office.

Entries open for Estuary charity swim

Dust off the Speedos – the call is out for people to take to the water for the annual Topsham-Turf swim organised by the Estuary League of Friends.

This year’s event takes place on Saturday 17 August and covers the traditional mile-and-a-half course from Topsham Sailing Club to the Turf Hotel.

It is now eight years since the swim – a long-standing event in Topsham – was revived by Topsham ferryman Mike Stevens. Since 2005 it has been organised by Estuary League of Friends and now has support from Michelmores Solicitors.

Over 900 run new city centre course

The 14th annual Michelmores charity race attracted 920 entrants to run around a brand new city centre course starting in Cathedral Yard and finishing at Exeter Castle.

Started by celebrity chef Michael Caines, the men’s race was won by Simon Longthorpe with Emma Hitchins the first women home. Karen Cook and Franks Reay won the veterans competitions while solicitors Foot Anstey won the corporate event. Promotional clothing distributors, Pencarrie entered the largest team with Nike+ Run Club Exeter the first running club to finish.
