A charity art auction hosted by Michelmores LLP has raised a grand total of £10,000 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The ART4MACMILLAN event featured 50 original pieces donated by well-known artists from Devon, Cornwall and beyond, transforming Michelmores' Pynes Hill offices into a pop-up saleroom for the evening.

All 50 lots − many of which were inspired by iconic Westcountry locations, were successfully sold during the lively auction, conducted by fine art auctioneers and valuers Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood.

Exeter Deaf Academy’s College students and staff will return in September to a refreshed entrance, thanks to the help of Michelmores LLP.

A trusty team of 5 volunteers from the law firm’s Exeter-based office spent the day at the Deaf Academy recently. It seems that every month there is a report on a company being hacked and personal data being put at risk.

Recently eBay hit the headlines as one of the latest victims of cybercrime and as a result, has asked all of its customers to reset their passwords. Now, an Exeter-based seminar hosted by Michelmores Solicitors is going to discuss the risk of cyber crime for internet users, and potential liability associated with data storage.

Appointments bring Michelmores partnership to 61

Michelmores LLP has appointed two new Partners and four new Associates at its Exeter and Bristol offices bringing the number of Partners to 61 and the number of Associates to 21. A new Financial Controller has also been appointed.

Stephen Newson, a transactional property specialist, and planning expert David Richardson both become Exeter-based Partners.

Michelmores' strong year end results

Michelmores has announced its unaudited financial results, posting a 15% increase in turnover to £26 million for the financial year ending April 2014. Profits are also predicted to show growth in line with increased turnover.

Staff will immediately benefit with the award of a minimum 3 per cent of salary bonus across the firm.

Organisers of the 12th Annual Michelmores Charity Run have announced that entries are now open, but are urging runners to apply early as they are expecting a bumper starting line-up.

The 5K event begins on Cathedral Green before taking in Princesshay, the Guildhall Shopping Centre, back to the Northernhay memorial statue and on to Rougemont Gardens, for a short uphill sprint finish at Exeter Castle.
