Rachel takes on Great West Run a year after serious injury

After rupturing her ACL last October, Rachel Gabriel from Plymouth, is impressively set to run Exeter’s Great West Run almost exactly one year on.

Being a member of the Armed Forces and having a very active lifestyle has made Rachel aware of how disheartening an injury can be, but she has not let this affect her motivation. In October 2014, Rachel slipped on wet grass during a warm up for a morning circuit at work. New partnership encourages healthier lifestyle choices

Two local organisations, City Runs and EDP Drug & Alcohol Services (EDP), have announced an exciting partnership which aims to encourage healthier lifestyle choices.

EDP will become the charity partner for City Run’s upcoming summer races including the Run Exe Summer 5k Series and Exeter 10k on Wednesday 29th July.

City Runs, based in Exeter, are an organisation that is about all things running.

They organise events, share local running news via their website and offer coaching, consultancy, event supplies and more.

1,351 neon night runners race through Exeter

A total of 1,351 crazily dressed runners raced through Exeter’s city streets on Saturday night causing quite a stir!

They were taking part in Exeter’s first ever neon night run and raised tens of thousands of pounds for local end of life charity Hospiscare.

Last call for entries for the Michelmores Charity Run 2015

There's still time to enter the Michelmores Charity Run, taking place on Thursday 11 June 2015 at 7pm and fundraising in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Starting the race is ultra-marathon runner Kevin Carr, from Woolacombe, who circumnavigated the globe running 16,300 miles in a record breaking 621 days.

Setting off from Devon in July 2013, Kevin is also the first person to run around the world solo and unsupported, traversing deserts, high-altitude mountain passes and arctic climes – taking in five continents.

Hotel treat for Marathon Man!

A Devon man enjoyed a complimentary weekend of relaxation at one of Exeter’s top hotels after running around the whole world!

Kevin Carr, who has become the fastest man to run, solo and unsupported around the globe, in 621 days, had a well-deserved rest at the Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel in Southernhay.

The team at the city centre hotel decided to offer Kevin a free weekend, after hearing about his incredible achievement, which saw Kevin, from Woolacombe, arrived back in the county at Haytor on 9 April beating the existing world record by less than 24 hours.

Marathon challenge for Devon charity

Gary Flint is taking on the challenge of this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon, running an incredible 26 miles on Sunday 26 April on behalf of local charity Rainbow Living.

Gary, who lives in Exeter with wife Sara and two daughters, has been fitting in his training around work and family life, though he is no novice when it comes to marathon running having previously completed the Vienna marathon.

Age UK Exeter 10k Race 2015

This is the only 10k Race in Exeter with a City Centre start and our 2015 route will take runners up the High Street, down Paris Street, Western Way and on to the Exeter Quayside.

From here it's a beautiful and flat stretch along rivers and canals finishing at the Piazza Terracina. This race will suit regular runners and beginners due to the relatively flat terrain. Download the route map here .
