Gary Flint is taking on the challenge of this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon, running an incredible 26 miles on Sunday 26 April on behalf of local charity Rainbow Living.

Gary, who lives in Exeter with wife Sara and two daughters, has been fitting in his training around work and family life, though he is no novice when it comes to marathon running having previously completed the Vienna marathon.

Gary says: “I’m very privileged to have the opportunity to run this year’s London Marathon on behalf of Rainbow Living, a Devon-based charity which provides long-term secure housing tailored to the needs of people with disabilities.
The charity was set up by a group of parents who I know and who have children with a variety of disabilities. Their first project was to set up a home for their children in Exeter, supported by an external care provider. They have subsequently set up another home in Torquay and are now busy on a third project. Their vision and dedication has been an inspiration to me and many other people.”

Thanks to the huge generosity of supporters, including Gary’s employer Lloyds Banking Group which will match the first £500 of sponsorship, Gary has already smashed his target of £1,500 and he is now hoping to raise over £2,000.

To support Gary you can sponsor him by donating via his Virgin Money Giving page http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/GaryFlint.

Ruth Airdrie from Rainbow Living said: “We are so grateful to Gary for undertaking this marathon run for Rainbow Living. All money raised will go directly towards a third Rainbow house in the area, making a real difference to the lives of young adults with disabilities.”
