Marathon star tells graduates: ‘No human is limited’

Marathon star Eliud Kipchoge has told University of Exeter graduates: “No human is limited”.

Speaking as he received an honorary degree, Mr Kipchoge said hard work and self-discipline “will always pay off in life”.

He also paid tribute to University of Exeter research, which played a part in his successful bid to run the first ever sub-two-hour marathon.

A fantastic programme of running events – from fun runs to marathons - has been launched by Exeter’s leading health and wellbeing charity, CITY Community Trust.

An Exeter man who works with children who have been sexually abused is hoping to raise hundreds of pounds for the NSPCC’s ‘Together for Childhood’ programme by running the London Marathon.

Bartosz Zaniewski, who works at the NSPCC’s service centre in Plymouth, set himself the challenge in order to highlight how organisations across the city are working together with local communities to find out the best way to prevent child sexual abuse.

Hundreds of runners to line up for the Exeter marathon

Runners from across the country – and further afield – will be taking to the streets of the city this Sunday for the Exeter Marathon.

A total of 500 people have signed up for Exeter’s only marathon and 10k race – which take place this Sunday – and they include a runner from the USA who is flying in just for the event.

Hundreds of spectators are expected to support the event, which starts from the home of Exeter City FC, St James Park, before heading down to the River Exe. The majority of the route is along the River Exe and the canal offering some beautiful viewing points...

Exeter Junior School Headmistress Sue Marks and her daughter, alumna Amy Marks, are celebrating completion the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 15th April for charity.

The dynamic duo are raising money for The Children's Society and MIND, in support of the school's charity bike ride from John O' Groats to Land's End over the summer.

Late night winter runs in the blistering cold and freezing rain couldn’t stop Jack Warne, 28, from Willand, who was determined to run the Bideford Half Marathon in aid of The Wave Project.

Jack, who grew up in Devon and recently graduated from Exeter University, now works as Marketing Executive for QuayClick, a digital marketing agency based on the Quay in Exeter. A researcher from Exeter will be pounding the pavements in the Bath Half Marathon in aid of Diabetes UK, the charity that funds her work. The run on Sunday, 4 March 2018 will see around 12,000 runners take to the streets of the World Heritage City to tackle the 13.1-mile route. Four local firms team up to support YMCA Exeter at the Great West Run

On Sunday 15th October, running enthusiasts from around the county will be taking part in the infamous Great West Run - an exciting 13.1 mile route taking runners through the heart of Exeter city centre.

This year, four local businesses, Attention Media, Burrington Estates, Wilkinson Grant & Co and Expedite, are rallying together to become the ultimate running dream team, collectively raising money for YMCA Exeter at the Great West Run.
