Pilgrim BM45 was built and rigged in Brixham in 1895 and has just completed her winter refit. She’s a superb example of a classic Brixham sailing trawler and part of the local heritage fleet so this is an opportunity not to be missed!

She will be moored on the Brixham Town Pontoon to welcome visitors free of charge and the crew will be on-hand to talk about her history,...

Second LGBTQ+ ceilidh to be held in Exeter

A FOLK dance for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer plus (LGBTQ+) people and friends will be held at Exeter Phoenix in Gandy Street, Exeter on Saturday, April 1.

The ceilidh, which will run from 8pm to 11pm, is being run by Gender Free Dance, an organisation that promotes folk dancing in a safe and non-discriminatory environment.

Gender Free Dance held its first such ceilidh, which was well-attended, in Exeter in November.

Last week the South West Apprenticeship Ambassador Network and Exeter College hosted the Apprenticeship Expo 2017 for a successful third year.

The Apprenticeship Expo is the largest event of its kind in the South West during National Apprenticeship Week. The college’s Sports Hall was transformed into a 1,000 square metre exhibition space resulting in a record number of attendees.

Charity opens its doors to another season of milling

A leading conservation charity is set to open its doors to welcome the public to a new season of milling following essential winter maintenance to Exeter’s only working water mill.

Based at Cricklepit Mill near Exeter Quay, Devon Wildlife Trust has embraced its headquarters heritage and runs regular milling sessions where the public can watch Exeter’s only functioning water mill turn grain into flour and learn about the milling industry.
