Families have the chance to try a range of water based activities at the Grand Western Canal Country Park’s ’Fun on the Water' day later this month.

Stand-up paddle boarding, rowing boat and Canadian Canoe hire sessions as well as model boating and pond dipping are on offer.

The event is being held at the Grand Western Canal Basin on Saturday 13 May 2017 between 11am and 3pm.

Professional stand-up paddleboarding instructor Rob McPaddling will hold a free taster session.

If you want to give it a go please make sure you bring a spare set of clothes and towel just in case you fall in.

Changing rooms are available and lifejackets will be provided. Paddleboarders must be aged eight and over while under 16s will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

You can also try your hand at model boating - members from the Exeter & District Model Boat Club are inviting visitors to have a go on their remote controlled model boats.

Alternatively you can take advantage of half-price 30-minute rowing and Canadian Canoe hire sessions, which are being offered by the Tiverton Canal Co.

Up to four seater rowing boats and two seater Canadian Canoes are also available.

Ranger Jo Roberts said: “This is a great chance for families, children and adults to try lots of fun activities you may of not thought about doing before all set in our beautiful award winning local nature reserve and country park.”
