A wildlife garden and historic mill in the heart of Exeter will be opening its doors to the public for a special summer open day. The ‘Water and Wildlife’ event is being held at Cricklepit Mill, the headquarters of Devon Wildlife Trust, on Friday 12 August, 10am – 3pm. Cricklepit is the last working watermill in Exeter and is only a stone’s throw away from the Quay. Visitors will be given the chance to see the historic mill in action. EXETER’S Quay will be buzzing this August Bank Holiday weekend as it plays host to some of the world’s top climbers at a spectacular climbing competition.
Thousands of spectators are expected to attend the thrilling climbing event on the Quay - and if you fancy dropping off a seven metre wall into the canal - they’ll also be a chance for novices to have a go.
Quay Climbing is staging its third annual Deep Water Solo Festival of Climbing over the August Bank Holiday weekend; the event sees a temporary seven metre high climbing wall erected in the city’s canal basin.
Our first ever fun family dog show takes place at Poltimore House on 14th August. Doors open a 10am with the first fun class starting at 11am. Lots of prizes to be won from hairiest hound to child handler class, something for everyone pooch and owners alike. Raffle and tombola, prizes for dogs and humans.

The event, which was organised by the Exeter PA Network, saw more than 50 members attend presentations and training sessions at County Hall.
