Just Walk to school to raise funds for BHF

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is calling on parents and pupils alike to mark Walk to School Week by signing up to the charity’s fundraiser Just Walk to help raise money for life saving heart research.

Just Walk invites teachers, parents and children to put their best foot forward and challenge themselves to walk to school each day for a week between Monday 16 May and Friday 20 May.

Not only is walking a great way to start the day, it also encourages a healthy heart for children and parents.

Each day, an average of 12 babies are born with a heart defect....

Exeter media students to set up pop-up newsroom at Devon County Show

Students from Exeter College will set up a pop-up newsroom at the Devon County Show on May 19-21 at the Westpoint showground, Exeter. The team will film, photograph and write about what catches their eye at the county’s largest annual event. The Jurassic Coast World Heritage Team has been awarded the Royal Geographical Society (with IBS – the Institute for British Geographers)’s 2016 Geographical Award.

These prestigious medals and awards recognise excellence in geographical research and fieldwork, teaching and public engagement. Dementia fears mean over half of people in SW avoid seeking diagnosis

Over half (60%) of people in the South West are putting off seeking a dementia diagnosis for up to a year or more a study carried out by Alzheimer’s Society has found.

Dementia is the most feared health condition in the UK, perhaps explaining also why almost two-thirds (63%) of people in the South West surveyed felt a diagnosis would mean their life was over.

Exeter School Chemists are bright sparks

Upper Sixth pupils at Exeter School took part in the Royal Society of Chemistry Olympiad with four Silver and eight Bronze prizes awarded.

The international competition was the 48th UK Chemistry Olympiad.

Head of Chemistry Richard Tear said this year's competition was extremely challenging.

Exeter Science Park launches new tech incubator initiative

Exeter Science Park Centre has marked the launch of a new tech incubator initiative with a visit from two tech start-ups from Boston, US, looking for opportunities to expand their businesses in Exeter.
