This week Exeter Phoenix announced the winners of its 2017 film commissions. Over the last three months, ideas for new short films and artist moving image work have been streaming in from all over the South West. The final six filmmakers have now been selected by a panel of industry experts to receive a share of over £10,000 worth of support from Exeter Phoenix and make their ideas a reality. The winning concepts include surrealist comedies, dramatic portraits of human endeavor and mental health, innovative animation, and artist moving image work exploring hybrid bodies.

Those looking to get onto the property ladder in Exeter and Devon will be happy to hear that it is easier to get a mortgage right now than any time since 2014.

After the housing crisis, mortgage lending standards became unreasonably tight for many years. The inability to source a mortgage has been an issue particularly acute among first-time buyers.

Puppies stolen from Exmouth home

Police are appealing to the public to come forward if they have recently been offered very young Shih tzu puppies for sale, if they are concerned about the provenance of the dogs.

Both dogs are four weeks old and unweaned. One is a male black and white and the other is a female, brown and white.

The dogs were taken from a residential property in Colleton Way, Exmouth on Sunday 23rd April, sometime between 8.30pm and 9.10pm. The house was unoccupied for the short space of time that the owner was admitted to hospital and a family member arrived to look after the property....

Tributes paid to Mid Devon man who died after ‘freak’ accident

Tributes have been paid to a man who died after sustaining severe burns in an accident at his home at Yeoford near Crediton, where he had been draining the tank of a vehicle following a small petrol leak.

During the incident, the fleece jacket and trousers Fred Saunders (84), was wearing became covered in fuel, and, it is understood, his clothes ignited through static electricity as he rubbed his hands on his clothing.

His partner, Sue Read, was fortunately at the scene and able to put out the flames and call the emergency services.

Forget just cheering on from the stands - football fans can explore the unique history of Exeter City through a new documentary as players embark on a promotion battle

Fans, former players and the current manager Paul Tisdale each explore different decades of Exeter City in the film, called Histories of St James Park, which will have a premiere at St James Park this week. Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Little Bridge House hospice near Barnstaple, would like to thank everyone who donated gifts for its children and families this Easter

IT was a thrilling final for Exeter United who were the winners of Exeter City’s One Game One Community's fourth Futsal tournament held at the University of Exeter Sports Centre on Sunday, April 23.

Exeter United beat the team T P Mazembe, named after the Congalese football club based in Lubumbashi, 2-0.

The semi-finalists who did not make it to the final but were praised for doing well were Chorizo United who lost 2-1 to Exeter United and A C Heavitree, who lost 4-2 to T P Mazembe.
