The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and The Wildlife Trusts have joined forces to urge gardeners to do more to help protect bumblebees and solitary bees, heroes of the pollinator world. The Bee Creative in the Garden! call comes as bees are under increasing pressure largely due to loss of habitat. In the countryside, 97% of lowland meadow has already been lost and the dramatic decrease in suitable habitats isn’t just confined to rural areas. The network of 15 million gardens that once formed ‘green corridors’ for wildlife is also disappearing at an alarming rate. In response here in the...

The Grecians took the lead in the first few minutes of the second half having had the lion's share of chances. However, they were then pegged back by a superb volley from Kevin Ellison and needed a penalty from substitute Reuben Reid to put them back in front before Liam McAlinden put the gloss on an excellent day by firing home with virtually the last kick of the match.

The ditching of proposed substantial hikes in probate fees by the Government has been welcomed by financial experts. The radical changes, increasing from the current flat rate of £215 to £20,000 for larger estates, were due next month, but have been shelved following the announcement of the General Election on June 8. But chartered accountants and business advisers PKF Francis Clark have warned that the reprieve from what has been described as a tax on grieving families may only be temporary. Lisa Macpherson, the firm’s Head of Tax Technical, said: “The abandonment of these proposals gives...
