Heavitree paddling pools set to reopen
The paddling pools at Heavitree Pleasure Ground are set to reopen this weekend after the City Council had to carry out essential maintenance work.
The popular pools will reopen again on Saturday (3 June) from 10am until 7pm. They have been repainted with a grippier surface following reports of some children slipping over while playing.
Cllr Stephen Brimble, Lead Councillor for Place, apologised for the pools being out of action but said that safety was paramount.
“I’m delighted to say that the pools are now back in action and children can enjoy them this weekend and throughout the summer, right the way through to mid September.
“It’s taken a while to get them back into use because of the uncertainty of the weather last week and over the Bank Holiday weekend. The pools were drained, prepared and then repainted using a paint with more sand in it to provide more grip underfoot. We had to wait 48 hours for the paint to dry but now I’m happy to say they are up and running.”
Also available, just across the river, is the Splash Pad in St Thomas Pleasure Ground, offering a range of fun, splash water activities in the green surroundings of a park.
