Cygnet Theatre announces 2022 scholarships in partnership with The Stage

Cygnet Theatre is thrilled to be taking part in the 2022 scholarship scheme organised by national industry newspaper The Stage.

The Stage Scholarships scheme has now been running for more than 30 years, but this is only the second time Cygnet Theatre has partnered with them to offer this fantastic opportunity to potential students. After a huge number of entries in 2021, we have decided to open the scholarship up to two potential students for a 50% scholarship, worth £3,750 each.

Business ‘dreaming up’ exciting support for new city arts festival

Over 30 Exeter businesses braved the stormy weather on Thursday 17th February to attend a ‘sneak peek’ preview of Cygnet Theatre’s ‘Dream Festival 2022’ coming to the city in April.

A presentation showcasing the many confirmed festival artists was interspersed by incredible performances by Cygnet’s current students, giving businesses a glimpse of the varied programme to come and the opportunities that exist for them to shape the success of the festival.

Cygnet Theatre is thrilled to be taking part in the 2021 scholarship scheme organised by national industry newspaper The Stage.

Callout to local companies, performers and groups

Cygnet Theatre will be celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2021 with a special season of work running from May to July.

They are looking professional companies who may like to take part in the season by bringing a show, concert, or event. The piece of work or the group would need to have some connection with Cygnet, but that can be as creative a connection as you like! They already have several shows, workshops and Q&A sessions lined up with special guests and are planning to use multiple spaces in the city as well as their own building.

Crowdfunder.co.uk & Theatres Trust have launched a nationwide crowdfunding campaign to help save theatres across the UK. The #SaveOurTheatres campaign was launched on 8th September with theatre fundraising pages going live up and down the country.

A unique collection of original artwork, books, music, theatre memorabilia and artefacts will again be made available to the public to peruse this autumn. The collection was amassed over 50 years by the late Monica Shallis, the Founder and first Artistic Director of Exeter’s Cygnet Training Theatre. Monica was a talented artist, author, theatre director, musician and composer so there is a wealth of fascinating material to see.
