Crediton schools join community arts project

Schools in Crediton have joined together in a major arts project and will display their creations in a special ‘pop-up’ exhibition in the town after Easter.

Pupils from Landscore Primary School have been working on a project using mosaics as well as teaming up with students from Queen Elizabeth’s Community College’s art and English department to make prints.

Children from Haywards Primary School have been using ceramics in their project.

All their creations will go on show with other work in textiles and photography by older people in the town at an exhibition...

A377 Crediton High Street reopens

The A377 (Crediton High Street) has reopened to traffic nine days ahead of schedule.

The road has been closed since Monday 25 January to enable South West Water to carry out a £320,000 scheme to improve Crediton’s sewer network. It was due to reopen on Sunday 21 February but opened at 12.15pm today.

Fire service warning as Crediton High Street closes

Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service are encouraging Crediton residents to double check all their smoke alarms are working and they have an escape plan in place.

This advice is triggered by the fact that South West Water will be renovating sewers in the town to improve the service to residents. Work starts on Monday 25 January for approximately four weeks.

2015 has been another fantastic year for Crediton based agents, Helmores, and now a national award sees them crowned Best Single Office Estate Agency in the South West at The Sunday Times Estate Agency of the Year Awards - for the third time.

Road safety awareness event

Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service are taking part in the Crediton Road Traffic Event on Saturday 28 November, working alongside the Police, HART ambulance team and the Honest Truth team.

Everyone is welcome. The event runs from 11.30am to 13.30pm at Crediton Leisure centre. Collision blocks Crediton Road

Crediton Road was blocked for some time today after a collision between a car and a bus at around 1pm (Friday 16 October).

Fire crews from Danes Castle used hydraulic cutting equipment to release a man from the car, who was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

One woman was also taken to hospital.

The road was blocked in both directions between Wreford’s Drive (Cowley Roundabout) and Sand Down Lane (Newton St Cyres.)

Attempted murder investigation in Crediton

Police are investigating an attempted murder in Crediton at the weekend after a man suffered life-threatening injuries.

A 35-year-old man, from Crediton, was allegedly attacked in an alleyway at The Burrowe between 12.30am and 1.15am on Saturday 10 October.

He suffered serious neck and facial injuries and was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and were taken into custody at Heavitree Road police station, Exeter.
