Wondering how you're going to keep the kids amused during the half term holiday? We've come up with a few suggestions here:

Warning over fake Frozen merchandise

Thousands of items of counterfeit “Frozen” merchandise, including dolls and costumes, have been seized in Barnstaple and Ilfracombe by Devon and Somerset Trading Standards service.

Investigations are continuing, but the authorities have issued a warning , alerting people to the potential dangers.

“We are concerned that children could be playing with these potentially dangerous dolls or wearing costumes which are highly flammable,” says Councillor Roger Croad, Devon County Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for the Trading Standards service.

Award winning local cookery school and school catering company, Fun Kitchen and Fresha, today announced the launch of a new joint healthy eating venture for schoolchildren in and around Exeter.

The new ‘Teach and Eat’ programme has been set up to help primary schools deliver healthy eating through fun hands-on classroom cookery teaching and fresh locally sourced school meals to eat.

Get creative at Knightshayes this half-term

Knightshayes, the National Trust property on the outskirts of Tiverton, has teamed up with the education organisation Daisi to provide fun and thought-provoking arts activities for families this February half-term holiday. Schools, youth groups and families across the South West are invited to mark Shrove Tuesday by raising funds for vulnerable children and young people with a pancake-themed challenge. Action for Children is holding its first national Great Pancake Challenge this year – and the charity wants children aged 7-11 years old from across the South West to join the fun by holding sponsored flips, stacking tall towers, decorating, or creating their own unusual pancake activities. Increase in childcare take up

Devon has seen a significant increase in the number of two-year-olds accessing free childcare and early learning thanks to the County Council’s 2gether funding programme.

Since September, over 2,000 children have been offered a funded place at an approved childcare setting, but there are still 600 children who could be eligible for a free place this Spring term who are yet to apply.
