Appeal for witnesses to A30 collision

Police are appealing for information following a collision on the A30 near Whiddon Down which happened on Monday (1 December) just after 1pm.

A silver coloured Landrover Discovery, which was travelling towards Exeter near Tedburn St Mary, left the carriageway and rolled over causing substantial damage to the vehicle.

Two women and two one-year-old children were in the vehicle at the time. The occupants were all taken to hospital but escaped with minor injuries.

Voluntary scheme launched to stub out smoking

Play areas across East Devon are signing up to a voluntary code asking people not to smoke near children.

In all, 37 play areas will be covered by the new code developed by Smokefree South West and East Devon District Council, using special signs designed by Smokefree South West.

Launched in September, Young Creatives is an award scheme created by holidaycottages.co.uk in partnership with Devon Libraries. Devon schools above national average on exams

Pupils in Devon schools are doing better than their colleagues in tests right through their primary and secondary careers.

New figures released by Devon County Council show that local children are beating the national and regional averages in tests in every single phase of compulsory education.

In Early Years, 68 per cent of children in Devon are achieving a good level of development compared to 60 per cent nationally and 62 per cent regionally.

New chapter for Tiverton youth centre

Tiverton Youth Centre, one of Devon County Council's eight youth hubs, starts a new chapter this week with its first sessions since the service was restructured.
