WiFi SPARK provides a hotline to Santa

Children at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales in Cardiff have been given a wonderful Christmas surprise - a personal chat with Santa over WiFi.

The youngsters, who are facing Christmas in hospital, were given the VIP treatment using tablet computers and the hospital’s free WiFi which is run by WiFi SPARK.

Along with the hospital’s IT team, Oliver Malkin and Tracy Scriven from WiFi SPARK, which is based in Exeter, dressed up as elves to get the special *Cisco Santa mission underway.

International recognition for Exeter-based theatre company

Theatre Alibi’s latest show will be touring to Exeter, following performances in Philadelphia, where the company has been selected from competition across the world to perform at the International Performing Arts for Youth Showcase.

The Exeter-based theatre company’s adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s I Believe in Unicorns will be performed at Exeter Northcott Theatre in February 2015.

Charity plays Santa to young cancer patients

Every young UK cancer patient spending this Christmas in hospital can look forward to receiving some very special gifts.

Playing Santa for the eighth year, The Laura Crane Cancer Trust will ensure that no 13-24-year old sufferer on a ward is forgotten.

And the 2014 effort will be the biggest yet with 500 presents set to be delivered, including gift boxes to the youth cancer unit at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Exeter.

Crediton pupils’ WW1 work goes on display

Pupils at a Devon primary school have created their own ‘pop-up’ World War One museum which will be open to the community all next week.

The museum will feature period artefacts such as gas masks and shell casings which have been discovered in relatives’ attics as well as websites and projects featuring the children’s own research into family members who were involved in the war.
