Record award nominations for Seaton Jurassic

The iconic Seaton Jurassic heritage centre has been shortlisted for a record six prestigious building and planning awards for its astonishing and forward-thinking design.

The centre, which was designed by Plymouth-based firm Form Design, was opened last year and has since had 50,000 visitors to the site.

Seaton Jurassic is owned by East Devon District Council and operated by the charity Devon Wildlife Trust.

Bluebell day

Start the day with a Dawn Chorus walk at the picnic site at the top of Seaton Down Hill at 6am.

Followed by a day of walks, activities and celebrations of the history, wildlife and trees of Holyford Woods.

Organised by the East Devon District Council Countryside team and the Holyford Woodland Trust.

A free event

No vehicle access or parking - please use the free parking at Colyford Memorial Hall, where a free shuttle bus will operate throughout the day. First bus 11.15am last bus returns 4.15pm.

Exeter student's close shave for children’s charity

A kind-hearted student from the University of Exeter is putting her best foot forward, to help raise funds for an essential children’s charity.

Allie Short, 21, is making her final preparations before competing in the gruelling Virgin Money London Marathon, later this month.

The final-year BA Geography student is running the 26-mile course to raise money for Round Table Children’s Wish, a charity which grants wishes to children suffering life-threatening or terminal illnesses.
