Ilfracombe’s Pall taken over in US buyout

The company which runs one of Ilfracombe’s largest employers has been bought by an American giant for $13.8billion.

Pall Corporation has been acquired by Danaher Corporation but will continue to operate under the Pall brand, making filtration, separation and purification technologies.

The Pall factory in Station Road employs several hundred people but it is not known if the deal will have any effect on the North Devon workforce.

Tourism Society Westcountry’s next meeting is on June 11th at Castle Drogo to discuss the ‘Gove effect’ and what can be done to address the huge loss of business now being seen in the region. The so-called 'Gove Effect' has had a huge impact on tourism in the Westcountry over the last 18 months, with changes to Education Regulations introduced by Michael Gove applying tighter restrictions on holidays in term time.

One of Devon and Cornwall’s leading law firms has revealed its year end figures, showing strong growth to top off an exceptional year for the firm, which saw it named among the 100 best mid sized companies in the UK to work for by the Sunday Times.
