Gilbert Stephens LLP, has expanded its conveyancing team following the recruitment of Alison Parker, a qualified conveyancer with 25 years industry experience. Our multi-role practice with five offices in Devon, welcomes Alison to its Exeter office in Southernhay.

Originally from the Midlands, Alison started her career as a trainee at Clarke Wilmot in Bristol, following the completion of her law degree. Since then she has worked at a number of firms in the South West, covering commercial and residential property law.

As part of the conveyancing team at Gilbert Stephens, Alison joins the firm at a very interesting time for the sector. She says: “Home ownership is of high importance to people in the UK and the Government is always coming up with schemes to try and get more people on the property ladder. After national recognition that there is a housing shortage, there are a number of large development plans across the country, including here in Exeter, and we are expecting ever more interest in property.

As well as this, there are going to be some further long-term changes to property law, as the Government expands The Green Deal.”

Alison has a breadth of experience, ranging from £600 million transactions to small individual cases. At Gilbert Stephens she is part of a 12-strong team, with wider company support in other offices. Alison remarks: “The opportunity at Gilbert Stephens is really exciting. I am in a position to help the company expand, grow and strengthen what is already a great team.”

Alison joined our firm in April, having taken the decision to base herself in Exeter, closer to her home in Crediton. She explains: “Everyone has been really friendly and welcoming. I am part of a lovely team and I think the company ethos of ‘traditional values’ is really appealing to both clients and employees alike.”

Here at Gilbert Stephens we have a high retention rate of our employees, with a number of long-standing and highly experienced members of the team. This means that we are able to offer all of our clients a senior level of service, with great local knowledge.

Outside of work Alison enjoys photography, gardening and baking. Her three hobbies all intertwine, with her garden providing her with the produce to create chutneys and jams, as well as a great subject for her macro photography. As a keen cook,
Alison often provides scrumptious nibbles for her husband’s cricket team and gave over 200 jars of her jam and chutney this Christmas.

When asked what she was looking forward to over the coming months, Alison says: “I really enjoy the strong interaction with clients, and am excited about getting to know new people, my new clients and the local people.”
