Start up record for Devon businesses

Devon has smashed the record for the number of new businesses launched in the area in a single year, according to new research. Statistics, compiled by www.informdirect.co.uk , have revealed that there were 5,501 companies formed in 2014, up from a previous best of 5,280. This brings the total number of businesses operating in the region to a high of 42,661. There are now 4.4% more active companies than there were a year ago and 28% more than there were five years ago. Exeter-based security company Marsh Barton Security Services (MBSS) has expandded its management team as the firm continues to grow and expand its range of services and clientele.

Science Park link road nears completion

Cumberland Way will be closed for a weekend in April as work on a new road connection to Exeter Science Park nears completion.

The new £3 million road, which is on schedule to open later this Spring, will eventually link Cumberland Way to the existing Tithebarn Lane bridge and the northern end of the Exeter Science Park.

A new roundabout on Cumberland Way, which will be constructed over the coming weeks, will provide a junction from the Tithebarn Link Road. Road closures and traffic management are needed to allow the roundabout to be built.
