Recycle Devon: Vote for your recycling hero

Communities across Devon are being called on to vote for their recycling heroes in the sixth annual Thank You Awards.

This year there have been over 30 nominations in seven different categories including Your Recycling Hero, Collection Crew/Operative and Small Business Champion.

Residents can vote for their recycling heroes online from Monday 7 January on the recycledevon.org/have-your-vote on the Recycle Devon website. Voting will be open until Friday 1 February

All the shortlisted candidates have been invited to attend an awards ceremony at County Hall on 2Friday...

The annual Outstanding Care Awards for Devon and Cornwall will honour outstanding individuals, providers and suppliers from across the care industry, including care homes, community care, voluntary organisations, emergency services and more.

Hendy Group honours Exeter sales star in 2018 Sales Awards

Owen Boylan from the Hendy Car Store in Exeter has picked up a key award at the recent Hendy Sales Awards which honour the group’s leading employees.

Owen was named Car and Van Store sales executive of the year for his work at the annual awards which were hosted by TV comedian Rob Beckett

The group has 57 franchise outlets across 30 locations and employs more than 1,100 people in Devon, Hampshire, Sussex, Surrey and Kent.

The Exeter College Student Awards has celebrated the successes of outstanding students - marking yet another stellar year.

One of East Devon District Council’s most popular nature reserves, Seaton Wetlands, has earned well deserved recognition as one of Devon’s top tourist attractions, by winning a Bronze award at the prestigious Devon Tourism Awards, held at Highbullen Hotel Golf & Country Club in North Devon.

Seaton Wetlands picked up its Bronze award in the Small Attraction of the Year category, alongside fellow Bronze winner Torre Abbey Museum, while Quince Honey Farm won Silver and Stuart Line Cruises were awarded Gold.

Dartmoor National Park has had a golden 2018 with top awards going to a number of Dartmoor based tourism businesses. In an award ceremony held last week Dartmoor National Park Visitor Centres were awarded Gold for the third year, in the 2018 Devon Tourism Awards. Blackcurrant jam and orange marmalade made at Otter Garden Centres have scooped silver in the Producers category at the recent Food Drink Devon Awards.

The preserves are made in the kitchens at the garden centre in Ottery St Mary by Liz Lee and her team using traditional methods with a high fruit ratio.

Devon is truly magnificent. At last night’s annual Food Drink Devon Awards the pinnacle of the county’s food and drink producers, hospitality businesses and speciality retailers celebrated in fantastic style at the Highbullen Hotel Golf & Country Club. Local housebuilder placed in top 3% of property developers across the country
