Local graffiti artists have given the subway at Exe Bridges in Exeter a colourful facelift.
The project, organised by Devon County Council and Miss*C’s Graffiti Academy, has over recent weekends seen local graffiti artists donating their time for free to revitalise the subways. Councillor Stuart Hughes, Devon County Council Cabinet member for Highway Management, said: “We’re pleased to be able to continue our link with Miss*C’s Graffiti Academy. Local artists have kindly given their time for free to help brighten up this area. The subway now looks more in line with the artwork we'...
“Green|Blue” is a series of black & white images of 'trees'. The work is derived from Environment Agency data on land at risk of flooding from rivers and the sea, separating out 21 river catchments around the South coast from the Sussex Ouse to the Bristol Avon.
The view from above has become normalised. Google Maps and OS Maps, city centre plans and ‘you are here’ stickers on the boards at local nature reserves, give the impression of omniscience and omnipotence. The very notion of ‘flood risk’ calls both our knowledge and power into question in the face of uncertainty and the...

Intriguingly entitled 'What's the Point...', the team will be coaxing a rhino into church, with our outside broadcast crew taking photos and video from a safe distance.
Twelve months hard work goes into the planning and preparation for the Festival. If you wish to see how our talented (and brave) team...

The exhibition explores Winnie’s vision of the capitalist world, viewing desirable commodities from different angles and often with a focus on textile products, in order to resist what she describes as her “shopaholic behaviour and temptation”. Winnie, who graduated from UAL/Chelsea College of Arts with an MA in Fine Art, paints her obsessions into her artworks.
The exhibition is curated by Julian McSweeney and Huanglu Shi for Artsalon+, and is being held in the atmospheric 1st floor room of The Oddfellows - Exeter, at 60 New North Road, EX4 4EP.

RAMM has commissioned a new artwork from the internationally-acclaimed glass sculptor, Steffen Dam, for its major summer exhibition Sea life: Glimpses of the Wonderful.
Dam will produce an artwork consisting of around 16 ‘marine life’ jars containing plausible but fictitious organisms. The work will be inspired by RAMM’s extensive collection of marine specimens in Sladen’s Study. This gallery is dedicated to starfish-expert Percy Sladen and houses his echinoderm collection (starfish, sea urchins and their relatives). It is the largest and most comprehensive echinoderm collection in...

Solicitors and colleagues gathered at the Mercure Exeter Southgate on Thursday (March 30) for the auction, conducted by TV’s Homes under the Hammer auctioneer Scott Gray.
The painting was won by 24-year-old Tom Backhouse, of...
Built up in 1769, burnt out in 2016, the tragedy of the fire at Exeter’s Royal Clarence Hotel has left a scar that’s both physical and psychological in our city.
Yet after destruction comes renewal, a theme that local sculptor Martin Staniforth (known as ‘morth’) is exploring in his creative work.
Martin said: “I’ve noticed that after disaster strikes, often we see nature begin the healing process as tiny plants start to fill the cracks and wasteland left behind. Disaster and renewal are part of the circle of life.”
Now Martin has been allowed to take away over two...
