Everyone is invited to celebrate Diwali with fireworks, food, and dancing at a special event at the University of Exeter.

Students from the Asian Society and Hindu Society have planned fun and vibrant activities for all ages to enjoy on Sunday, November 14.

Festival of Light celebrations, at the University of Exeter’s Streatham campus, starts with a Puja at 2:30pm, led by a Hindu Chaplain in the Forum building. After then people can enjoy food and activity stalls before dance performances begin at 5:30pm.

Boxing is thought to have been around in Britain since 1681, with regular boxing matches being held in London’s Royal Theatre in 1698. Back in those days, boxing was considered to be a ”gentleman’s sport”. The monarchy of the time, King George was such a big fan of his fellow nobleman that he even set up a boxing ring in Hyde Park in 1723. Boxing went from strength to strength over the coming decades, with Britain producing a number of lighter weight titles in the early 1900s through fighters such as Bill Ladbury, Teddy Baldock and George Stanley.

307 Squadron Project invites you to Exeter’s Guildhall for the special event For Your Freedom & Ours.

It will take place on 15 November 2021, to remember the Polish 307 Squadron.

The 307 night-fighter squadron was part of the RAF, who defended the South West of England during WW2.

It prevented Exeter from being totally destroyed during the blitz on the city in 1942.This year also marks the 80th anniversary of the Polish squadron arriving in Exeter.

More than half of UK adults are unaware of many of the factors that can increase their risk of liver cancer, the British Liver Trust has revealed. Primary liver cancer, also known as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), is the fastest growing cause of cancer death in the UK and due to late diagnosis, only 13%3 with the disease will survive for more than five years – 87% of people surveyed thought the figure was much higher than this.
