Hello, I am writing this on my 100th day in office. If I’m honest, it feels more like 100 minutes because we’ve packed so much in to these first three months, and at times there’s hardly been time to catch my breath.

UK scientists are embarking on a four-year study of flamingo behaviour to explore how their relationships could be key to improving breeding success and the overall welfare of captive flocks. Police are appealing for information following a serious collision in Exeter which left a man in a critical condition. The 49-year-old man suffered serious head injuries after falling from a moving vehicle, possibly a taxi, at Westpoint last night (28 February). Devon charity, the Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust, has donated a large collection of butterflies, moths and other insects to the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery in Exeter.
The Conservation Trust oversees Paignton Zoo, Slapton Ley, Living Coasts and Newquay Zoo and the specimens were collected by Dr David Stradling, the former Chairman, who passed away in July 2012 after a long illness. His collection was started in the 1950s and includes specimens from the UK, Switzerland, Trinidad, Argentina and Botswana.
Half a million people in the South West last year gave their employers £4,500 worth of work for free, according to a TUC survey released today, the ninth annual Work Your Proper Hours Day.
The study of official figures shows that 447,063 workers in the region regularly put in six and a half hours a week more than their contracted hours without getting paid for it.
Nigel Costley, regional secretary of the South West TUC, said: “Thousands of South West workers go above and beyond the call of duty each year to ensure their businesses and organisations stay afloat.
