BBC Radio Devon presenter David FitzGerald will be taking part in the Hospiscare Men’s Walk this month as part of his intense health and fitness campaign.

FitzGerald, who presents the interactive lunch, has been challenged by the BBC’s ‘Inside Out South West’ to take on a new healthier lifestyle. The DJ, who had been a stranger to exercise untill recently, has decided to walk the 10 kilometer route for the local charity as part of his new fitness regime.

Study finds disabled employees are more likely to be attacked and bullied at work

Employees with disabilities are twice as likely to be attacked at work and experience much higher rates of insults, ridicule and intimidation, a new study has found.

Research from the universities of Plymouth and Cardiff found people with physical or psychological disabilities or long-term illness reported higher rates of 21 types of ill-treatment than did other workers. This included higher levels of physical and verbal abuse from managers and colleagues, but also from customers and clients they came into contact with.

The new leader of the Green Party of England and Wales, Natalie Bennett, is visiting Devon Today (Tuesday 5 March) to launch the Green Party Manifesto for Devon for the May Devon County Council elections.

Rob Baxter expresses pride in Chiefs performance against Harlequins

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter admitted he took a "great deal of pride" from his side's showing as they completed a league double over reigning Aviva Premiership champions Harlequins. South West productivity back to pre-financial crisis levels

The productivity gap that has puzzled economists during the UK’s long-running economic downturn has largely been avoided by the South West, according to a new study.

Absconder from Lincolnshire prison thought to be in the South West

Police are appealing for information to trace a man who has absconded from prison and may be in the Devon and Cornwall area. John Loveridge, 28, was sentenced to five years in prison in 2011 for offences including burglary and theft. He absconded from HMP North Sea Camp in Lincolnshire on Monday 11 February. It is believed that Loveridge may be in Somerset, Devon or Cornwall and members of the public are asked to remain vigilant. Fostering Events in South Hams, Mid, East and West Devon

A series of special events for anyone interested in fostering will take place this month, as Devon County Council continues its drive to recruit carers.
