The University of Exeter today announced that IBM (NYSE: IBM ), the world's largest IT and consulting services company, will be one of the first University of Exeter Strategic Corporate Partners. Five early career academics from the University of Exeter are celebrating receiving European Grants worth a total of €6.3 million to explore topics ranging from how states encroach on civil liberty; how stars build magnetic fields; and how data intensive science will change research in the digital age.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has submitted a file of evidence in the Thomas Orchard investigation to the Crown Prosecution Service.
On 3 October 2012, Mr Orchard was restrained and arrested in Exeter on suspicion of a public order offence and was taken at about 11.10am by police van to custody at Heavitree Road Police Station.
Just over an hour later Mr Orchard was taken by ambulance to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital as he was unresponsive in his cell. Mr Orchard subsequently died on 10 October 2012.
Exmouth Coastguard report that a full team were called to action at 7.56pm last night following the report of a person found at the foot of cliffs, just North of Darlings Rock, Lympstone.
The Coastguard reported on Facebook: "As we arrived on the scene it was confirmed by Paramedics and Police that the person was deceased.
"After Police had concluded their on scene investigations and due to the state of the tide, Exmouth Coastguards requested Exmouth Inshore Lifeboat to assist with the Recovery of the deceased.
"Our thoughts are with her family at this time."...
