Devon and Somerset fire crews tackle combine harvester fire in Sandford

Several calls were received to reports of a combine harvester on fire in a field at Middle Henstill Farm, Sandford, Crediton this afternoon (10 August).

One fire appliance from Crediton and one from Exeter Danes Castle were mobilised to the incident. On arrival crews requested further assistance from Middlemoor to attend with their light off road pumping appliance.

Crews extinguished the fire using approx 1557 litres of compressed air foam, one C02 extinguisher. three beaters and the light pump were used to extinguish 2 acres of cut corn and hedgerow.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
