Important milestone towards community ownership of Sidbury pub

East Devon District Council has agreed to the request from Save The Red Lion Campaign to list the Red Lion pub in Sidbury village, East Devon, as an Asset of Community Value under the 2012 Localism Act. The District Council’s important decision is a significant one for a rural community in East Devon.

Today (Friday 13 September 2013) marks the 10th anniversary, to the day, of the Supporters' Trust purchasing the majority shareholding of Exeter City FC .

The Rydon Lawns development will be hosting fundraising events from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 September from 10.30am to 5.30pm.

At Hillside Gardens and Rougemont Park the coffee mornings will be held on Saturday 28 September from 10.30am.

Get ready for the 2013 Tour of Britain - a spectators' guide

Spectators have 85 miles (137km) of Devon’s roads to choose from when it comes to being part of the 10th anniversary Tour of Britain in the county on Friday 20 September.

Devon County Council will host Stage Six of The Tour, starting in Sidmouth and finishing at Haytor, in Dartmoor National Park.

Young Singers invited to join Wren Music in Exeter

Children and young people in Exeter can join a new term of fun singing and song-writing as part of Wren Music’s Roots Music School.

Wren Music is Devon’s leading community music education charity and is running two groups in Exeter, offering young people the chance to learn from professional singing leaders. Devon business helps Olympic Legacy live on

Just over one year on from the Olympics, Aspects Pools, a local swimming pool provider, is doing their bit to carry on the Olympic legacy. The Devon-based outfit has just completed an innovative competition for the British Water Polo Community.

Three men receive indefinite ban from Devon and Cornwall at Exeter Magistrates' Court

Three men in their 20s have been given ASBOs by magistrates in Exeter, banning them from Devon and Cornwall on an indefinite basis.

Following a successful application by Devon and Cornwall Police, all three men were handed the orders at Exeter Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Wednesday, 11 September 2013.

Officers had sought the ASBOs as a result of the men concerned causing increasing anti-social behaviour problems in the Exeter area.

Devon Pubs have strong showing at the Great British Pub Awards.

Six pubs from across Devon made the finals of the national awards celebrating an exceptional quality. In an award ceremony tonight hosted by the Inbetweeners ’ Greg Davies, over 100 pubs from across Britain will be vying for awards in 17 categories.
