Oxjam Exeter has announced some of the venues that will together host up to 120 live music acts during the Oxjam Exeter Takeover weekend, taking place on 19 and 20 October 2013.

The Takeover weekend venues confirmed are The Cavern, The Phoenix (bar), Mama Stones, The Old Firehouse, The Revelry, Cellar Door, The Lemon Grove, The Angel and the Orchard at National Trust Killerton, where Takeover ticket holders will be able to attend their annual Apple and Cider weekend.

Oxjam Exeter is part of a national live music festival, taking place in up to 60 towns and cities across the UK.

Oxjam was founded in 2006, with the aim of creating a network of music-loving people across the UK, all united by a shared goal - to raise money for Oxfam in order to fight poverty and suffering around the world. Oxjam’s strap line is local music, global impact.

Oxjam Exeter Takeover is the main event during the festival and in the lead up there will be monthly gigs and various fundraising events, including a music quiz and a 12 hour Zumbathon.

Tickets for the Takeover weekend will go on sale on Friday 16th August with an early bird offer of £5 per adult available until 1st September. Tickets can be purchased via the Oxjam Exeter website: oxjamexeter.blogspot.co.uk or the Facebook page: Oxjam Exeter Takeover 2013.

A team of Devon-based volunteers are organising Oxjam Exeter and hope to raise £10,000 for Oxfam.

David Collier, Oxjam Exeter’s Takeover Manager, comments: “We have some great venues on board for the Takeover weekend and we can't wait to bring a fantastic live music festival to Exeter, whilst raising money for such a worthwhile cause.”

Laurence Eastment, Countryside PR, National Trust Killerton, comments: “We’re really excited here at Killerton to be one of the venues for the Oxjam Exeter Takeover; we are holding our annual Cider and Apple Weekend on the same dates and look forward to showcasing some local live music handpicked by Oxjam as part of our event.”

Over the years Oxjam has gained several high profile celebrity supporters, including Jarvis Cocker, Fatboy Slim, Damon Albarn, Hot Chip and many more. But at its heart Oxjam is still a grassroots festival, with thousands of volunteers celebrating music in their local communities by organising their own events in support of Oxfam GB.
