Our students will be taking over Route 2 in Topsham on Thursday 28th November.

After the fun and success of last year’s British Sign Language (BSL) appearances at Café Lingua, which takes place on Thursdays at Route 2 in Topsham, we are set to put on another great event this November.

Students will be running the café’s kitchen and encouraging attendees and staff to communicate and order using BSL.

Early Christmas present for Exeter shoppers

Shoppers in Exeter are to get an early Christmas present with the announcement of special offers in City-Council run Pay & Display car parks in the run up to Christmas.

Starting tomorrow (Thursday 21 November) parking will be free in all City Council-run Pay & Display car parks after 5pm. And those paying for three hours in Pay & Displays on Sundays will be able to get the rest of the day's parking thrown in for free.

Police imposter tries to stop real officer

A man from Plymouth who has been stopping other road users for traffic offences has been arrested for impersonating a police officer.

An unnamed 37 years-old man had bought a flashing blue light and siren for his car had been stopping road users for offences such as speeding.

One motorist the man attempted to stop was an off-duty police officer. The off-duty officer refused to stop for the man when they realised that the car was not an official vehicle.

Renewed appeal for help in finding missing Exeter pensioner Joan

Police in Exeter are growing increasingly concerned about a 78-year-old woman who has not been seen since 9.30pm on Friday 15 November. Joan Russell was last seen at her home address in the Emmanuel Close area of Exeter. Because of her age and her condition she is considered vulnerable and police are concerned for her welfare. Joan has limited mobility and walks with the aid of a walking stick. The stick was left behind as well as her money, medication, bus pass and other personal belongings. East Devon District Council has introduced a new service for residents who like to carry out transactions on their mobile phone.

The East Devon App enables people to access various council services on their smartphone, with both i-Phone and Android systems supported.

A RSPCA has launched a new campaign to change the law on how labels on meat show how an animal was killed

The campaign began in response to a proposal in the European Parliament which on labelling that will indicate if an animal was stunned before death

The society is calling for its supporters to contact MEPs to add their signature of support for the proposal. People in Devon are being encouraged to take HIV tests as part of National HIV testing week which starts this Friday (22 November).

Tests can be taken at the GU Medicine and Sexual Health Clinic in Sidwell Street, Exeter which featured on the BBC Three documentary Unsafe Sex in the City last month. Similar clinics are run in Exmouth, Tiverton, Barnstaple, Ilfracombe and Bideford, as well as contraception clinics in Okehampton, Holsworthy and Torrington. Kitchen appliances stolen from Newton Abbot building site

Police are appealing for information following a burglary at the Charles Church building site, situated off Mile End Road in Newton Abbot.

The burglary happened sometime between 1pm on Saturday 16 November and 7.30am on Monday 18 November 2013.

A locked container was broken into and around £7,000 worth of electrical goods were stolen.

The items are brand new kitchen appliances, including fridges, freezers, cookers, hobs and cooker hoods; most were Electrolux and AEG make.
