East Devon villages that have been successful in the 2013 Best Kept Village competition, promoted by the Devon Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), were rewarded in a ceremony at EDDC’s Full Council meeting last week.

Representatives of the winning villages are pictured receiving certificates from EDDC’s Chairman, Councillor Graham Godbeer, and Vice-Chairman Councillor Mrs Christine Drew.

A new Head of Residential Estate Agency has joined Kivells, one of the longest established estate agency practices in the south west. Marc Cottrell has been an estate agent in the south west and beyond for many years. Having sold his own North Devon agency, he relocated to Cornwall and worked for specialist country homes departments in Truro based estate agencies. Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby is offering the chance to try out one of the 2012 Paralympic Games most popular sport in Exeter. Free taster sessions will be on offer for anyone who wants to have a go on Sunday 3 November from 11am-1pm and 2pm-4pm at St Peter's School, Quarry Lane.

Devon's Luke Friend is so determined to win the X Factor he's been rehearsing into the early hours.

Exeter based charity Dream-A-way is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and now the “Dream Team” have even more reason to celebrate as their very special 20th Birthday Ball was a massive success and a record breaker in terms of fundraising.

The event, held at Sandy Park, was greatly enjoyed by nearly 300 guests and raised a record breaking total exceeding £21,000!

To put this sum into perspective these monies have already enabled the charity to purchase a brand new, specially adapted, disabled caravan at Sandy Bay which will ensure they are able to provide holidays...

Official representatives of the Blackfoot Nation of Canada will be visiting RAMM to offer their knowledge about sacred regalia held by the museum. This is the first time it has been accessed by the Blackfoot Nation in 130 years. It is special because it was once owned by Isapo-muxika (Crow Indian’s Big Foot or Crowfoot) an important Blackfoot leader at a time when Canada was being created using their land. Through colonial hands the regalia was sold to the museum in 1904.

This lecture will present a Blackfoot history of Crowfoot and the effects this has on Blackfoot people today...
