A perfect accompaniment to your Christmas market shopping or after work drinks party, Nuts and Volts present an audience with the infamous Madame Poliakov – the richest woman on earth. A thrilling theatrical event that takes place mainly in the atmospheric environment of the Well House Tavern’s cellar, audiences are invited to enjoy this dark Victorian melodrama on Thursdays and Saturdays in the run up to Christmas.
Local charity Hospiscare is launching its Christmas Hamper Appeal for the festive season. To get involved you simply have to: • Get a cardboard box - those with an artistic flair can decorate it. • Ask colleagues to bring an item in to fill it • Once full, hold a raffle at the workplace • The winner takes home the Hamper • Send the money from the raffle to Hospiscare - your local charity. All the money raised will be spent caring for people in Exeter, mid and east Devon who are living with a terminal illness. Exeter singing star Adam Isaac helped the people of Barnstaple begin their festive celebrations by performing at their Christmas lights switch on.
Adam, who was mentored by Sir Tom Jones in the 2012 series of The Voice, performed material from his own album Train Tracks and also covered tracks by artists such as Lenny Kravitz and Eurythmics. Girl band Stooshe and Britain’s Got Talent stars The Luminites also performed.

Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg says young people will have a major input into the future vision for policing in Devon and Cornwall.
Mr Hogg turned over his office to a group of nine community police cadets as part of the Children’s Commissioner’s Takeover Day and said he was constantly impressed by their willingness to get involved in the policing family.
The group was made up of community cadets from across Devon and Cornwall and though they were hosted by the OPCC engagement team they also spent time visiting the various operational units at Middlemoor.
