Exeter is set to be the regional leader in crime scene forensics serving the whole of the South West saving as much as £6.6 million by 2019.
Exeter will be the home of the main chemical and fingerprint lab in the South West replacing the individual labs run by each of the regions five police forces. A second chemical lab will be set up in Gloucestershire and a second finger print lab will be opened in Portishead to provide a complementry service.
The current system costs the five forces around £10.8m and it is forecasted that the move could save up to £6.6m by 2019....
The University of Exeter has attracted around £40 million to train PhD Students in a funding ‘clean sweep’.
The funding has come by successfully securing a range of prestigious Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTPs) from nearly all of the UK’s major research councils. There are growing concerns for Stuart Glanville who has been missing for nearly two weeks.
Stuart, 50, was last seen outside of the Spar shop in Heathfield on Sunday 17 November. When he was last seen Stuart was wearing a backpack, coat and trousers. He also wears a leg brace on his right leg and walks with the aid of two crutches. Stuart is regarded as a vulnerble adult.

A second man has been charged with the murder of Stephen Crook and has appeared in Exeter Magistate's court this morning.
Steven Webster, 40 from Okehampton and Ryan Singleton, 23 from Coventry will face trial for the murder of Crook, 43 at an address on Alphington Road in Exeter.
Another man aged 39 and a 17 year-old youth remain in custordy in Launceston Police Station in connection to the murder.
Both the 39 year old and the 17 year-old were arrested in Conventry on Tuesday (26 November)
